Apple HomeView Launched in India at Rs. 39,900: Features, AI-Powered Siri, Privacy and More
Apple HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, AI-powered Siri, FaceTime and smart home controls. The device will be available in India from November 13.
Apple has announced HomeView, a new smart home display designed to bring entertainment, voice assistance and connected home controls into a single device. Priced at ₹39,900 in India, HomeView marks Apple’s latest push into the smart home market, with features powered by Apple Intelligence and a greater emphasis on personalised experiences and privacy.
The device features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone technology and an adjustable aluminium base. Apple is also offering a wall-mounted version for users who want to install the display in areas such as hallways or entrances. HomeView will be available in Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink and Space Grey colour options. According to Apple’s India website, the device will be available from November 13.
Apple HomeView: Features and Specifications
At the centre of HomeView is a 7-inch display designed to handle everything from viewing photos and checking calendars to controlling compatible smart home accessories. The screen adjusts its brightness to suit different lighting conditions, while selected interface elements respond to a user’s proximity.
HomeView is powered by Apple’s A18 chip and features Siri AI, which is built on Apple Intelligence. Users can ask questions, set reminders, manage timers, check their schedules and seek help with everyday tasks. When paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad, Siri AI can also use personal context to retrieve relevant information from apps such as Messages and Calendar.
The device supports Apple Music, Podcasts, Books and Apple TV, alongside compatible third-party audio and video apps. Users can also transfer supported activities from their iPhone to HomeView using Handoff, allowing them to continue listening to music, playing podcasts or following recipes on the home display.
FaceTime, Smart Home Controls and Personalised Experiences
Apple HomeView features a 12-megapixel Centre Stage camera for FaceTime video calls. The camera keeps users in the frame as they move around, while a four-microphone array is designed to capture voices and reduce background noise. The built-in speaker system supports Spatial Audio, with two full-range drivers in the display and a woofer integrated into the base.
The display also acts as a central dashboard for compatible smart home devices through Apple’s Home app. Users can control lights, adjust temperature settings, manage supported locks and view compatible security camera feeds. HomeView can display multiple camera feeds simultaneously, with support for viewing up to nine video streams through the Home Camera interface.
The device can also detect sounds from compatible smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and send alerts to a user’s iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. Apple Intelligence can group related smart home notifications, while video descriptions help users review activity around their homes.
Apple HomeView Focuses on Privacy
Privacy is a key part of Apple’s approach to HomeView, which is designed to be shared by multiple members of a household. The device can recognise up to six people and display personalised content for each recognised user.
Apple says the A18 chip includes Secure Exclaves, which process camera and microphone data in a protected environment that cannot be accessed by the operating system. Personal content, including messages and calendar information, is available when a user’s paired iPhone or iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, has been recently unlocked and the device recognises the user.
Apple Intelligence also uses Private Cloud Compute for requests that require cloud processing. The company says this system is designed to handle requests without storing personal data or making it accessible to Apple.
Apple HomeView Price in India and Availability
Apple HomeView is priced at ₹39,900 in India, with a separate wall-mounted version also listed at the same price. The device will be available through Apple’s online store, the Apple Store app and selected retail partners from November 13.
With HomeView, Apple is entering a smart display category where products such as Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub already offer entertainment, voice assistance and connected home controls. Apple’s approach centres on integration with its existing ecosystem, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod and compatible HomeKit accessories.
Whether that integration is enough to make HomeView a compelling addition to the smart home remains to be seen. Its appeal will likely depend on how effectively Siri AI handles everyday tasks and how much value users place on having Apple’s services, personal information and smart home controls accessible from a single display.
