The 450-seat auditorium marks Dolby Cinema’s fifth location in India, featuring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies.

Dolby Laboratories and EVM Cinemas have announced the launch of Kerala’s first Dolby Cinema auditorium at EVM Cinemas in Fort Kochi. The new facility will mark the fifth Dolby Cinema location in India and is expected to open to the public soon. The 450-seat auditorium combines Dolby Vision picture technology and Dolby Atmos audio with a specially designed cinema environment aimed at delivering a more immersive movie-watching experience.

Dolby Vision and Atmos Take Centre Stage

The new auditorium features Dolby Vision, which offers a wide colour range, brighter highlights and deeper blacks, alongside Dolby Atmos, which delivers immersive, multidirectional sound. The cinema also features a wall-to-wall-to-ceiling screen, acoustically engineered interiors and a layout designed to minimise distractions. Dolby said the auditorium’s seating, sightlines and sound distribution have been planned to provide a consistent viewing experience across the venue.

The launch expands Dolby’s premium cinema presence beyond India’s major metropolitan markets, bringing its theatrical technology to Kochi, a city with a strong film-going culture.

Dolby Cinema Expands in India

Michael Archer, Vice President of Cinema Sales and Partner Management at Dolby Laboratories, said Kochi was a natural addition to the company’s growing Dolby Cinema footprint, citing the region’s connection with cinema and storytelling.

Jose Mathew, Managing Director of EVM Cinemas, said the launch builds on the company’s efforts to introduce new cinema technologies in Kerala. EVM Cinemas introduced the state’s first Dolby Atmos screen in 2014.

Movies and Ticket Availability

According to Dolby, more than 930 theatrical features have been released or confirmed for release globally in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The company’s portfolio includes Indian films such as RRR, Pushpa 2: The Rule, Game Changer, War 2 and Kantara.

Dolby Cinema at EVM Cinemas in Fort Kochi is scheduled to open to the public soon. Tickets will be available through BookMyShow, with exclusive offers and special previews planned in the coming days. The Kochi launch adds another location to Dolby’s expanding cinema network in India, giving audiences in Kerala access to its combination of premium picture and immersive sound technologies.
