Google Pixel 11 Series Launched With Tensor G6, 120x Pro Zoom and Faster Charging

Google has officially launched its Pixel 11 series, comprising the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL. The new smartphones feature upgraded cameras, a slimmer camera bar, faster charging and Google’s new Tensor G6 processor, with a stronger focus on Gemini-powered AI features.

The Pixel 11 series is the company’s 11th-generation Pixel lineup and starts at $899 for the standard Pixel 11. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL start at $1,099 and $1,299, respectively. Pre-orders are now open, with sales beginning August 20. Google has not announced India pricing in its launch announcement.

Pixel 11 Gets a Slimmer Camera Bar

The Pixel 11 series retains Google’s signature camera-bar design but makes it noticeably slimmer. Google says the camera bar on the Pixel 11 is 40% thinner than that of the previous-generation base Pixel model. The company says the slimmer design makes the phone more comfortable to carry and reduces wobbling when placed on a flat surface.

The Pixel 11 features an Actua display, a satin-finish metal frame and a polished glass back. It is available in Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost and Obsidian. The Pro models come in Canyon, Fog, Olive and an all-matte Obsidian finish.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL feature Google’s brightest-ever Super Actua displays, with peak brightness of up to 3,600 nits. Google has also added a new anti-scratch coating that it claims offers more than twice the scratch resistance of the Pixel 10 Pro. All three models are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.

Pixel 11 Pro Gets an Upgraded Camera System

Camera upgrades are a major focus of the Pixel 11 lineup. The standard Pixel 11 gets a larger 48-megapixel main sensor with 56% higher light sensitivity than the Pixel 10. Its 5x telephoto camera can deliver up to 30x Super Zoom.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL get a new main camera sensor and an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto camera. Google says the new telephoto sensor offers 30% more light sensitivity and supports Portrait Mode at 5x zoom.

The Pro models also introduce Pro Zoom, which can reach up to 120x using Google’s computational photography and AI processing. Google notes that results at 120x can vary and that the feature is not supported across every camera, application or shooting mode.

Low-light photography is also getting an upgrade. Google says the Tensor G6 processor, redesigned imaging software and updated sensors allow Night Sight to capture images up to 4.5 times faster while maintaining image quality.

Tensor G6 Brings Faster Performance and AI

Powering the new phones is Google’s Tensor G6 chip, which the company describes as its fastest and most powerful mobile processor yet.

Google claims Tensor G6 delivers 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app launches compared with Tensor G5 at launch. The chip also offers 50% more TPU compute and works with the latest Gemini Nano model to process on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy, based on Google’s internal testing.

The new hardware is designed around Google’s Gemini-powered features, with the company positioning the Pixel 11 series as a more proactive AI-powered smartphone rather than simply a device with AI features added on top.

Pixel 11 Pro Introduces HiLight

One of the more unusual additions to the Pro models is HiLight. Built around the camera flash, the system uses coloured LED lights to provide notifications without requiring users to look at the display.

HiLight can use different light patterns to indicate when Gemini is listening, processing a request or responding. Users can also assign custom colours to important contacts for incoming calls. Google says additional functionality, including message notifications from selected contacts, will be added over time.

Faster Charging and More Storage

All three Pixel 11 models start with 256GB of storage and support faster charging than their predecessors.

The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro support Qi2.2 wireless charging at up to 25W. The Pixel 11 Pro XL can deliver up to 15 hours of battery life after 15 minutes of wired charging when used with Google’s 45W USB-C charger.

The phones also feature built-in Pixelsnap support for compatible magnetic accessories.

Seven Years of Software Updates

Google is continuing its long-term software support policy with the Pixel 11 lineup. All three smartphones will receive seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL also come with six months of Google AI Pro, which includes higher Gemini usage limits and 5TB of cloud storage. However, Google’s terms state that this promotional offer is currently limited to US residents.

Google says all three phones will be available from August 20 through the Google Store and participating retail partners. India pricing and availability is not out yet.

With the Pixel 11 series, Google is focusing less on a radical hardware redesign and more on refining the Pixel formula with improved cameras, a faster Tensor chip, deeper Gemini integration, stronger durability and faster charging. The Pro models, in particular, are positioned as flagship smartphones for users who want Google’s most advanced camera and AI capabilities.
