Kia has officially teased the All-New Sorento ahead of its India debut, marking the arrival of the brand’s first hybrid SUV in the country. With pre-bookings now open, the flagship SUV is set to strengthen Kia’s premium portfolio and intensify competition in India’s growing hybrid SUV segment.

India’s hybrid SUV market is heating up, and Kia wants in. The automaker has officially teased the All-New Sorento ahead of its India debut, confirming that it will be the brand’s first hybrid SUV for the country. Even before the official launch, Kia has started accepting pre-bookings, signalling that its flagship global SUV is finally headed to Indian roads.

Globally, the Sorento isn’t a new name. Since its debut in 2002, the SUV has sold more than 4.8 million units across 132 countries and has remained one of Kia’s three best-selling models over the past two years. The SUV has also earned several international safety awards, including the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and a five-star NHTSA safety rating, giving it strong credentials before its India arrival.

Kia isn’t revealing specifications just yet, but the first teaser offers a glimpse of what’s coming. The SUV features a tall, upright silhouette, muscular proportions and an aggressive new lighting signature with vertically stacked LED elements. The design follows Kia’s latest global styling language and positions the Sorento as a more premium offering above the brand’s existing SUV lineup in India.

The bigger story, however, is the hybrid powertrain. As fuel prices continue to climb and buyers increasingly look beyond conventional petrol and diesel SUVs, hybrid technology has emerged as the sweet spot between efficiency and practicality. With the Sorento, Kia is entering a space currently dominated by rivals such as Toyota and Honda, making the premium hybrid SUV segment in India even more competitive. While pricing, powertrain details and feature lists remain under wraps, Kia says more information will be announced closer to launch. Pre-bookings are now open through Kia dealerships and the company’s official website.
