OPPO has unveiled the design language of its upcoming Reno16 Series ahead of launch, introducing what it claims is India’s first HoloVerse 3D Design alongside a new AI Snap Key aimed at enhancing productivity and AI-powered interactions.
The Reno16 Series marks a significant design shift for the brand, drawing inspiration from celestial themes and introducing a new 3D Pop Planet Design that creates the illusion of a floating planet beneath the smartphone’s rear panel. Available on the Starry White variant, the effect is achieved using a dual-layer optical structure and millions of precision-engineered microlenses designed to create a dynamic naked-eye 3D appearance that changes with viewing angles.
According to OPPO, the Reno16 Series will be offered in three colour options — Starry White, Twilight Violet and Stellar Purple. The devices also feature a Floating 3D Glitter finish and a Dynamic Stellar Ring around the camera module, further emphasizing the series’ fashion-focused design identity.
Beyond aesthetics, the Reno16 Series introduces the AI Snap Key to the Reno lineup for the first time. Positioned on the side of the device, the customizable shortcut button allows users to quickly save content to Mind Space, record voice notes, launch AI tools and access commonly used functions such as the camera, flashlight, translator and recorder. OPPO says Mind Space integrates Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT, allowing users to organize information, compare answers and retrieve saved content from a single interface.
The standard Reno16 is equipped with a 6.32-inch AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution and a claimed 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. The larger Reno16c gets a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with similar display specifications. OPPO says both devices are designed to remain slim and lightweight despite housing advanced camera systems.
Durability is another focus area for the Reno16 Series. OPPO claims the smartphones will carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K certifications for resistance against dust, water immersion and high-pressure water jets. The devices also feature an aerospace-grade aluminium frame, Splash Touch and Glove Touch technologies aimed at improving usability in challenging conditions.
With the Reno16 Series, OPPO appears to be betting heavily on design differentiation at a time when smartphone hardware has become increasingly similar across brands. The company hopes its combination of visual innovation, AI-powered shortcuts and premium durability will help the Reno16 stand out in India’s highly competitive premium mid-range smartphone segment.
