New Delhi: realme has announced the first sale of its latest smartphone, the realme 16T 5G, in India. The device, which goes on sale from May 27, is positioned as a battery-focused mid-range smartphone and comes with an 8,000mAh battery, a 50MP Sony AI Portrait Camera, and IP69-rated durability. The smartphone is available via Flipkart, realme’s official website, and retail outlets, with introductory pricing starting at ₹26,999.

The realme 16T 5G is powered by what the company claims is a segment-leading 8,000mAh battery, designed to deliver up to three days of heavy usage on a single charge. To enhance long-term battery reliability, the smartphone features a seven-year battery health solution that includes intelligent charging optimisation, battery protection mechanisms, 45W fast charging, reverse charging support, bypass charging, and temperature management features.

On the camera front, the smartphone sports a 50MP Sony IMX852 AI Portrait Camera paired with realme’s LumaColor Imaging Engine. The setup offers features such as RAW HDR processing and AI Portrait Glow to improve image quality in varying lighting conditions. The company has also introduced a rear Selfie Mirror, which it claims is a first in the segment, alongside AI-powered tools including AI Popout Collage, AI StyleMe, and AI Instant Clip for content creation.

The device runs realme UI 7.0 and incorporates the company’s Flux Engine for smoother multitasking and long-term software optimisation. realme says the phone offers up to six years of fluency protection. Gamers are expected to benefit from stable frame rates, thermal optimisation, and power-efficient performance.

Durability is another key focus area for the realme 16T 5G. The handset comes with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance, along with military-grade shock protection for enhanced resilience during everyday use and outdoor activities.

The smartphone is available in Aurora Green, Starlight Red, and Starlight Black colour options. The 6GB+128GB variant carries a launch price of ₹26,999, while the 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models are priced at ₹28,999 and ₹31,999, respectively, as part of first-sale offers running until June 2.

With a combination of a large battery, AI-powered imaging features, and rugged durability credentials, the realme 16T 5G aims to appeal to users seeking long-lasting performance and enhanced content creation capabilities in the competitive mid-range smartphone segment.
