New Delhi: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has unveiled the next-generation Tiago and Tiago.ev in India, introducing a comprehensive update to its popular hatchback lineup. The company says the new models have been reimagined from the ground up with refreshed styling, upgraded technology, enhanced safety features, and a wider range of powertrain options. Prices start at Rs. 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol-powered Tiago, while the Tiago.ev starts at Rs. 6.99 lakh for full ownership.
Built on a legacy of over 700,000 customers over the past decade, the next-generation Tiago will be available with petrol, iCNG, and electric powertrains. Tata Motors is positioning the hatchback as a more premium and technology-focused offering while maintaining its value-driven appeal.
Announcing the launch, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said hatchbacks remain the entry point to personal mobility for millions of Indian families. He added that the new Tiago aims to democratise features and technologies that were previously reserved for more expensive vehicles.
Updated Design and New Features
The next-generation Tiago receives a refreshed exterior design with a wider stance, redesigned front and rear styling, LED daytime running lights, connected tail lamps, and new alloy wheels. Tata Motors has also introduced new colour options, including Varanasi Vibrance for ICE models and Dehradun Dew for the electric variant.
Inside, the hatchback gets a redesigned dashboard featuring dual-screen integration, a new steering wheel, an updated centre console, and a 26.03cm touchscreen infotainment system. Other highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, iRA connected-car technology with more than 35 connected features, and a segment-first 360-degree surround-view camera with Blind View Monitor.
Tiago.ev Focuses on Affordability and Faster Charging
Tata Motors says the Tiago.ev continues to target first-time EV buyers by balancing affordability and practicality. The electric hatchback now supports faster charging, allowing users to add up to 100km of range in just 18 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
The company has also introduced a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty for the 24kWh battery pack, covering the first owner for up to 15 years. Tata Motors claims the lower running costs of the EV can help owners recover the vehicle’s ownership cost within a few years, particularly when paired with home solar charging solutions.
As an alternative to conventional ownership, Tata Motors is also offering the Tiago.ev through its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme. Under this model, pricing starts at Rs. 4.69 lakh plus a battery usage charge of Rs. 2.6 per kilometre.
Safety and Powertrain Options
The new Tiago range will continue to offer one of the broadest powertrain portfolios in the segment, including petrol manual and AMT variants, iCNG manual and AMT options, and the all-electric Tiago.ev. Tata Motors highlighted that it remains the only hatchback in its class to offer CNG with an AMT gearbox.
Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with traction control, automatic headlamps, a 360-degree HD camera system, and Blind View Monitor. Tata Motors says the ICE-powered Tiago has also been engineered to perform in demanding double-impact collision scenarios.
With the launch of the next-generation Tiago and Tiago.ev, Tata Motors is aiming to strengthen its position in both the conventional hatchback and entry-level electric vehicle segments by offering customers a wider choice of powertrains, connected technologies, and safety features at accessible price points.
