Xiaomi Unveils Kunlun EV Architecture, Launches SkyNomad SUV Series With Up to 1,705km Claimed Range

Xiaomi has unveiled its next-generation Kunlun Technical Architecture alongside the debut of the Xiaomi SkyNomad Series, marking a major expansion of the company’s electric vehicle portfolio beyond the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7. Built on the new Kunlun Platform, the SkyNomad lineup is aimed at family buyers and focuses on spacious interiors, advanced safety, AI-powered intelligence, and long-distance capability.

The new lineup includes two models: the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max, a flagship seven-seat extended-range SUV, and the SkyNomad N70 Max, a five-seat all-wheel-drive extended-range SUV. Xiaomi has announced pre-sale prices of RMB 299,900 for the N90 Max and RMB 259,900 for the N70 Max.

At the heart of the new SUVs is the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, which has been engineered to maximise cabin space through a flat-floor architecture and reconfigurable seating layout. Xiaomi says the platform enables a continuous flat floor from the front row to the cargo area, while long seat rails allow multiple seating configurations for family travel, camping, business meetings, and cargo hauling. The company claims the N90 Max offers up to 1,831 litres of cargo capacity and can accommodate up to 24 carry-on suitcases in its maximum storage mode.

Xiaomi has also placed significant emphasis on safety with what it calls the Kunlun Total Safety system. The SkyNomad features a high-strength steel and aluminium body structure, up to 12 airbags, the company’s new Armor Scale Battery with multi-layer protection, and additional emergency safety features including dual emergency tailgate release handles and emergency floating capability.

Inside, the SUVs feature Xiaomi’s latest connected cockpit powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, supporting AI-driven cabin controls, six-screen connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, dual 5G connectivity, and the company’s Hyper XiaoAi voice assistant. Xiaomi says occupants can control seating layouts, lighting, and climate settings using voice commands, while the vehicle also supports advanced driver assistance powered by a 700 TOPS computing platform, LiDAR, radar, and upgraded XLA architecture.

The SkyNomad Series adopts an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain branded as Kunlun HyperRange. Battery capacities range from 52kWh to 76kWh, with Xiaomi claiming up to 505km of pure electric range for the N70 Max and 464km for the N90 Max under the CLTC cycle. The flagship N90 Max delivers a claimed combined driving range of up to 1,705km, while supporting multiple fuel grades for its range-extending engine.

Xiaomi says the SkyNomad Series has been designed for buyers looking for a spacious, flexible family SUV that combines intelligent connectivity, long-distance efficiency, advanced safety, and premium driving dynamics. Pre-orders opened in China on July 30, with deliveries to follow after order confirmation.
